You should have no problems going to synthetic oil and do not need to flush.
On the Techron, (I use it myself), Chevron recommends the last tank before an oil change as it could get into the oil. As law requires gas to have some detergent, Chevron adds it to their gas. However, adding a bottle increases the concentration even further. There is some debate as to whether these days you really need to use these additives... but with gas at $3/gal+ it might not be a bad idea every to use it at every once in a while.
