The Ball Joint - If you are speaking of the ball joint on the control arm. Loosen the bolt on top of the tapper to gain some space for when it will release. Then just hit from the side, the strut tower below the wheel bearing with a heavy hammer where the ball joint taper runs through and it will fall apart easily. I spent alot of time trying to separate the ball joint once, got desparate and spoke to a saab mechanic and thats how he told me it was done.

Stanchion Arm - There are sleeves that will hold its removal from the subframe. You will also need to possible replace this hardware. The sleeve I remember being a pain to remove, I use long needle nose plyers. If you haven't remove the sleeves I don't think you will get the arm off.The bushings are item 17 on the eeuroparts diagram for suspension. The sleeve will prevent it from being removed, for some reason I don't see them listed as a purchase any more on the website.
Hope this helps.
900set97, sedan, automatic, 174k miles, next diy repair will be to rebiuld the turbo.
