I sure appreciate your input, by the way. It mirrors a lot of my thinking along the way to a decision (even the Sea Foam).
First, there was one 10k oil change in the early (short trip) days. The others ranged from 4-8ish using saab semi-syn.
Second, the head was removed, cleaned, and the mating surface with the block was re-machined at about 45k. So I'm thinking that pulling the valve cover won't tell me enough about what's going on eleswhere.
Third, when the dealer replaced the head at 45k, they forgot to attach the vacuum hose to the fuel pressure regulator (I'm speculating... I didn't actually watch them forget to do it). I didn't notice until 80+k. In that time I had hellish carbon buildups due ( I now think) to running rich while off boost. The dealer didn't fugure it out and would just do some overnight carbon heat soak cleaning thing.
Of course you could all be correct. It could be a waste of time. I'm not as worried about that as I am about actually damaging the engine myself, which would be ironic in the bad way.
