<LOL>

First of all, you don't know if you have a problem. Most people can tell by what it looks like under the valve cover. Even if the head has been cleaned, you could use a really strong light, like a high intensity LED flashlight, and look down into the space between the chain and the timing cover, or fish for sludge through the oil drain plug, etc.

It cost less than $200 (2 hrs labor) to have a professional pull the pan and clean it and the screen in a detergent parts washer. About 1/3 the cost of a 30/60/90K service, less than the cost of two new tires, or a brake job on one axle... all routine maintenance.

You could also pull and inspect the timing chain tensioner, and inspect/measure that. Something that should be done by 100K miles anyway, IMO, and was not hard to do with a few tools and in the driveway.

I doubt that Auto-Rx would make things worse AFTER cleaning the screen, and it could help. With or without the cleaning, some crud will end up in the screen again, but if your head has been cleaned, it should not be much.

>>>It also alarms me that people get the "check engine" light when using Auto-Rx when the filter clogs. <<<

With respect, that makes little sense. The light that would come on if the screen is completely plugged would be the oil pressure warning. On this engine, that is very serious, because if the light ever comes on while driving, the oil pressure, or oil level, or both, are dangerously low.

I don't see AutoRx doing any harm if the screen is reasonably clean, and the oil circulation is good. Even on my car, I do not think it did any harm. The same damage would have been done by running an engine with an almost plugged screen for 15,000 miles, with or w/o the flushes, and I should have known better.

Good luck, :)
