Other than that, it's a good car with a lot of life left in it. The turbocharger itself is pretty reliable. I put 123K on my '97 900SE coupe before trading it in on a 2002 9-3SE 5-dr/5-sp. The 900 was due for new front speakers, brakes, maybe a clutch in another 20k.
Just be warned that a turbo in the hands of a teen might notbe a good idea. There are more powerful cars out there of this vintage, but the rush of a turbo is addictive. On the other hand, it is a very safe and sturdy car should he be involved in a traffic altercation.
Good luck - JMJ
