02 9-3SE - Purchased in June '05 w/44k.........now 111k, roughly 50k/year, most at highway 65mph and higher. Extended warranty helped with quite a few problems...throttle body, DIC, cannister purge valve, a/c compressor, struts, front end suspension kit, info display module, timing chain, water pump, 3 sets of tires due to cupping/camber issue. Yes, all these problems in 16 months. Good news...engine has been and is sludge free. I use mobil 1 synthetic every 5k and techron at same intervals.
I've never had a car over 70k and have always bought new....recently VW Passats. My issue is that my high mileage on the last few cars has turned me quite upside down in terms of how much I owe compared to what the cars worth.
I love this Saab....02, the last year the 9-3's had that saab look before changing in 03 to look like Honda's and Camry's. Great feel, handling and oh yes...the turbo. The way it looks now I'll be at 200k in 2 years and it makes me nervous. I figure if i keep it properly maintained w/syn oil i should be o.k., but are these engines made to run at that mileage?? Has anyone had their car's engine rebuilt or replaced? Would like peoples feedback on engine rebuilds......can this engine go 250-300k which would be my 5th and 6th year of ownership?? Thanks for reading and feedback
