I agree with John in that it depends on the previous owner but you will see alot of the same issues on this board not related to preventative maintenance. One being the DIC module.
Currently I am replacing the alternator and two pulleys.
I have had almost every oil seal replaced and found another leak today, most vacuum hoses cracked, one radiator hose, new water pump, new O2 sensor, new neutral switch, broken rear motor mount. The top will go up and down but doesn't pin to the rear deck when it is up, this is a 2K fix. 2 Batteries, needs a new ignition switch, automatic transmission shifts like it is in trouble.
I have done all major and minor services since I owned the car. I bought it in 2002 with 58,000 miles. It now has 108,000 miles. I don't believe an average of 11000 miles a year is excessive or abusive.
I paid about 10K and put another 3-4k in repairs.
I wouldn't be against blaming the previous owner or just a bad build...
I have a 92 ford Ranger with 160,000 miles. I have put 2 batteries in, tires, brakes, oil changes, 2 mufflers. I bought it in 96 with about 62,000 miles.
I would never buy another Saab. If I could sell this one I would. I put it on Ebay and didn't get a bid, It has bee in the paper several times, flyers etc. No one wants it.
Search the boards here and see what you think. My experience may be unique.
