Depending on enviromental conditions, (elevation changes, wind, etc), 40 mpg is possible... I did an airport run the other day... about 15 miles on a single interstate each way... I was curious as to what my 65mph mpg was and once up to speed, I set the cruise contral and rest the trip computer. On the way there I had a tail wind and didn't run the AC and the SID showed about 39mpg. Leaving the airport and once back on the interstate with 3 other people it showed about 36mpg, and after going into the wind and running some AC when I got off the interstate it showed 32MPG... so while I averaged 32mpg, one a single run I got almost 40mpg.

Regardless, with respect to the balance of power and highway mpg's (when the turbo ain't being used its just another 2 liter 4-banger) these Saab turbos do ROCK... no wonder Ford has annouced that they are going to be introducing turbos.
