Steven:
Thanks for your candid/complete assessment of the situation.
I "checked in" with a local SAAB Indy. He noted the following.
The clutch cable had recently been replaced (OEM / automatic
tensioner version...something like that). He noted there was
not enough tension and showed me how to manually get the
automatic tensioner to do its job.
He noted there was no noise coming from the transmission...
the release bearing and that some play in the clutch
arm when the cable was removed was normal.
I will keep an eye on the noise and clutch action.
Is there some way to get lubrication to the bearing
and/or keep dust and moisture out to prolong its life?
I figure it's another one of those "sealed" areas
where the seal fails and the cost goes up significantly
to repair the damage.
Thanks again!
Frank
