I am an advanced " home" mechanic who has maintained my family's 6 SAAB's (currently) over the years. I can't recall the last time I paid a shop to do mechanical work for me.
I bought a used B235R from a 2000 9-5 Aero (80K) to replace my blown Viggen engine. I am considering doing the swap myself, but I have never tackled anything this big. I have a garage, the tools required, and can get support from two very experienced mechanics who live nearby.
What are some of the pitfalls and challenges I face? What would be the expected total labor for someone who has done this several times? Including swapping out some of the missing components?
What else should I look at replacing, hoses, belts, maybe clutch?
thank you
