Glad you had alternate transportation - I was lucky my girlfriend's car was here for a jump-start, but just having to bring her Saturn SL2 up the driveway was torture enough with its vague steering and twitchy feel. Made me appreciate my 9-3 that much more once I finally got it started!

I doubt you need a new battery, but I do recommend you disconnect the cables and apply dielectric grease to the battery terminals before tightening everything up. The grease will help prevent corrosion that could have caused poor contact.

My drive to work is only 7 miles, not much time for charging, so I wasn't terribly surprised when my battery failed me again this evening. After getting a jump from a coworker, I headed straight for a Firestone shop to pick up a new Interstate MT-47. Cost: $74 with tax, after a $30 discount for the pro-rated warranty on my old battery.

Funny story, the guy at Firestone asked if I planned to carry the new battery out myself. I said yes, since changing the battery on these cars is about as easy as it gets, so he said to bring in my old battery while he went and fetched the new one. He emerged to find me in the parking lot with the hood up, wrenching away - "Wow, I didn't know you were going to change it right here!" I guess he thought I just had the old one in my trunk.

Anyway, I hope your solution is even cheaper and that both of us are more successful in our commutes tomorrow!
