Question on brake pads -- regarding Jim Blake's post Posted by bender [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() |
He says in one of his posts to file down part of the backing plate of the pad, so that it fits smoothly. I had to do this because they pads weren't going in easy; there was too much friction to ensure smooth operation.
I filed down a bit of the paint and a tad bit more. They fit very nicely now, however the metal is exposed. Will it rust? Do people here periodically check the pads for any signs of rust or anything preventing them moving smoothly?
As well, I intent to use anti-seize where the caliper and pads come into contact (also likely preventing any rust from forming on where I just mentioned). Is it better to use "brake grease"?
Thanks for the tips, Bender.
