If it's acting up when the engine is hot, but starts/runs ok when cooled down, the crankshaft position sensor is likely going out. You can measure the resistance (I don't remember the specs) while hot.
You can also experiment with some form of cooling spray such as a can of co2 air duster. Get the engine warmed up until it starts acting up. Use the shut the engine off and use the air spray to cool it down quickly (you may not want to turn it upside down to use the liquid co2 as it may damage the sensor even more to get a huge cold-shock when it's hot). If it starts up, I would put money on the sensor.
