A couple of other things: the seal on the transmission (for the axle) leaked once, but usually didn't require replacement (I took it to a transmission shop to do when needed -- although may have been able to do it myself). Be sure to loosen the fill hole on transmission before reinstalling (it's easier).
The ball joint rubber boots (a bit expensive and hard to put on without the right tool) can be damaged depending how you separate. A good blow with a hammer on the side when the weight is on them can get them to release without damage to the boot. I usually do replace that nut for the ball joint. If the axle is bad or the CV boot damaged, it's a great time to replace the driver side. Also inspect engine / trans mounts they can need replacement.
