... just this week... and at first I attributed it to the switch from oxygenated winter gas to spring/summer formulation.... but I truly wonder if the SID isn't actually worthless. Here's my situation--- I drive the same (and I mean.... I never vary) miles/speed/conditions every week. the mileage in the fall dropped between 5 and 10%, which I attributed to the winter mix (I wonder if the oxy enriched reduced emission gas actually makes up for the loss of mileage...)
This week, it increased to normal all of a sudden. (Bear in mind, I hadn't cleared and recalibrated the SID either.) Today--- I decided to clear the sid--- and on a 150 mile turnpike trip, the mpg finally settled in at !! 33 mpg! More than it's ever been, even since new. Bear in mind... that the plugs have at least 30k since the last gapping, and the engine has never been serviced by anyone but me, and all told, there's 195k miles on it. I think the SID is crazy, and I have never truly figured it out.
