I know it is not a change in my SID. I can now often get 6 days of commutes per tank, instead of 5.

I am still using my 2 year old plugs, so that is not the problem. I do use Techron, and last did a treatment about two months ago.

I think that my snow tires at 38PSI are the major contribution. An other significant factor might be that I am now using Mobil One (was castrol synth). I also noticed that when I did oil changes with Castrol, my mileage dipped for a long time, until the oil was aged, then it would come back. I noticed a similar effect with my first Mobil to Mobil change, but it was less significant and the gas mileage recovered in about 10 days of driving.

I also swicthed to Saab sythetic gear oil when the trany and clutch were done in recovery from a leaking rear engine seal. This my also be a significant contribution. And this oil probably takes a while to conditions as well.

I am waiting to see how much my fuel consumption increases when I go back to my summer Michelin Pilot Sports. I find it hard to believe that the Viggen rescue kit improved fuel consumption. Perhaps it did for situations where there are very strong side winds. That could have thrown off the geometry. My milage is much less afffected by strong side or head winds compared to 6 months ago and earlier.

I clear my sid display every trip after engine warm up, and when clear of city traffic. This does not tell me overall performance, but it does produce a figure that is independant of warming up a engine from different temperatures, and removes the effects of hitting varying mixes of stop lights etc.

95SET, 120000 miles, mostly a highway commuter.
