All of the maintenance has been performed at the correct intervals. The belt was replaced at 62,500 at the dealership. The repairs I had a month or so ago were for the water pump and the air conditioner compressor. I am getting a good idea about the history of this part and I am firm in my conviction that I should be made whole. I do not expect a new engine free or a new Viggen to compensate my mental anguish, but the dealership estimated that it would cost $9000 to replace the engine there and I don't want to have to finance another car to the tune of many thousands of dollars.
I have been in contact with an attorney and am more than willing to take legal action to get compensation. I would rather continue to be a contented Saab devotee' but that depends on how they treat me in this matter. If I missed maintenance or abused the vehicle I would take the responsibility for the loss and deal with it. This is a faulty part and it failed at many fewer miles than it should have even thought reasonable. The engine is ruined because of it and needs to be completely replaced due to what the dealership called it being a "zero tolerance engine". Why I should have to be financially hosed in order to get back to my previous state is something I do not understand given the circumstances.
I continue to appreciate the responses and recommendations.
Sincerely
Barry Huizenga
