I may be missing something, but my sense of right and wrong says no way that a known problem should cause that much damage to a vehicle that was dealer-maintained to specs and Saab only owns 2/9ths of the financial responsibility. On the other hand, you were close to replacement time (27500/30000 miles) and close to 100k miles.
There are customer reps and there are people who can do something in that office. The reps are probably outsourced anyway. You may have to write to the President of Saab before your complaint gets passed along to someone with authority to do more.
The suggestion to talk to the regional rep is a good one - those guys have a lot of authority. Ours (Boston area) has been very helpful with a few problems that we had.
Good luck!
