Good point Dean...But, as was the case in this particular circumstance, there was an obvious path of water that could be readily identified...Due to constant exposure to water, the fuse recepticals had deteriorated and you're not supposed to do this, but I "hotwired" the fuse box to make it operational...This makeshift wiring harness was in plain visibility...
I have more horror stories, simply by virtue of the amount of miles that we put on a car, our cars require 4 times the amount of maintainence a normal car would receive...Personally, I have never had a good experience at a dealership, until after I wrote the letter to Honda...Then, I was introduced to a real technician who asked me what the original problem was...I explained that the car kept going into "limp" mode and he said, use STP gas treatment every so often...Never had a problem again...
It's all bottom line stuff...Cars go longer, last longer with a whole lot less fuss until something messes up...My feeling is, they're not gonna see you for a while, so they try to get as much as they can, doing as little as they can...I really feel sorry for the poor people who have never picked up a wrench, because dealers make it all sound so mysterious...
Did I tell everyone about the little old lady who took her car to a dealer, I was standing there when she picked it up, so I listened...Routine
maintainence is what I heard, her bill 2,300.00...Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.......
Now that's a real lube job.....
