Excellent!!!!! I found the lever. No mention in the manual that it is behind the panel - thanks for the tip. Pulled the lever and was able to manually raise the top the remaining 3" or 4".
If I return the lever to its original position and turn the ignition on can I use the console switch to "latch" down that back panel? Could this cause any problems?
There have been numerous posts about bracing that motor with clamps etc. I will attempt those remedies over the weekend.
Again thanks for your help. Wow, this board is really a great source of info and help.
