SAAB conceded that there was a possible problem with timing BELTS in the V6 and said they would replace he BELT at 30k mile intervals up to 100k miles. Your problem concerns a CHAIN. SAAB has made no statement that I know of, saying there is a weakness in the chain system. Generally, timing chains are very reliable. There have been problems with teh balance chain for some users. Agree with an earlier post that you should approach SAAB USA for some contribution to your repair bill as the car is just out of warranty.
