I recall some of you purchased RE 730s about the time I did. I now have 15k on them and while I like nearly eveything about them I decided I can no longer handle the noise (I think they get louder daily). I noticed inner edge feathering on all four (since I have already rotated them 3 times, I dont know whether this wear pattern originated in the front or rear). I brought the car by a reputable tire guy (who has several BMWs) and knows performance tires, he suggested the root cause is the tread pattern, he has seen the same thing with RE 730 equipped BMWs and Audis. The car is in alignment and the suspension parts are in good shape. He said cars with elaborate suspension systems do not do well with large tread block pattern tires like the RE 730.
Since the tires still have lots of tread life, we will try removing the tires from the rims and remounting side to side, thereby relocating the feathered edge to the OUTSIDE, this will still allow the proper rotation direction. This should get me some more miles of hopefully some relative peace and quiet. For next time, he recommended Michelin Primacys @ 150.00 (still good in wet with a tighter block pattern, but are V or W rated instead of Z), and just happens to be the local Tire Rack installer. I will keep you posted to let you know if this tire switch was successful.
