I've noticed the same things that you mention - these tires are way loud and now that you mention it, I did notice feathering when I removed 'em to mount the snows.

I had figured it was due to the loose suspension (where despite my dealers assurances that everything up front was tight, the steering wheel sometimes seems to only have a casual rather than causal relationship with the front tires). What does he mean by elaborate suspensions? The NG suspension has always struck me as basic strut-type, but with loads of rubber at the connection points.

I had kind of expected the 730's to be noisy, anything with large tread blocks and lots of void area will be. Big 4x4's are a classic example of this. I'd had the old BFG Comp T/A ZR's, which have a nearly identical tread pattern, on my Taurus SHO and they were quite noisy as well. I don't recall feathering problems there, but I drove the car hard and had all four down to the wear bars in 20k miles. Perhaps my tolerance for noise has also diminished in the last ~10 years.

Thanks for the tip on the Primacys. I hope to be rid of this car before it needs new tires, but if I'm not then I'll look into them.

FWIW, I've noticed a slight decrease in noise each time I rotate the tires (F->R->F) but it always increases again.

thanks for the update, Mike
