Hard driving will not cause the trans, or engine for that matter, to leak. You don't specify where the leak was coming from, but if it's out of the bellhousing then it's either the input shaft seal or the rear main seal. From what you said about shifting getting stiffer it sounds like the ISS. It's a fairly cheap part, but the trans has to be removed to get at it.
These NG's are fairly complex, and seem to be more fragile than the C900's, I'm rather disappointed with mine as well.
