As far as I'm concerned, you CANNOT disable the shift up light on a NG900 ('94 to '98) with the Tech II!! I have a Tech II at my disposal now and then and I tried to find the option for doing this... The menu that exists for the 9-3 does NOT for the NG900. There are LOTS of differences between the NG900 and 9-3 when it comes to the Tech II. Anyone who has actually played with one on both cars will tell you... *I'M* telling you. It can't be done.
Now as for removing the bulb from the cluster... Sorry to say it Paul but you don't have to actually crack open the instrument cluster to remove the bulbs. Just like the SID and ACC units, you can remove the bulbs via little holes in the back of the unit. Just take a screwdriver, put it in the slot cut into the bulb and give it a half turn counterclockwise... The bulb will come right out!! (Basically, you were almost THERE and just needed to look at the unit a little closer)
Just trying to clear up the misinformation here... I've been there, done that!
