DISTILLED WATER IS A MUST TO THE SUCCESS OF COOLING SYSTEMS.
I agree w/ DEAN, water is not the same from house to house, much less country to country.
As for coolant, color is not the final determinant, as much as the label stating:
silicate free #1, phospate free, #2, nitrate free #3, nitrite free #4.
In Europe, this comes typically in blue. So what. Color means ZIP.
You get a "purple" coolant that measures up to these 4 conditions, mix it 50/50 with distilled water, and you'll be all set.
Think of the BIGGER picture here, which is that SAAB/GM is putting their money where their mouth is with the DEX-COOL (in model yr. 2002) for 3 yrs/50 thousand miles.
Your buddy going to do that with green stuff?
Secondly, you should look at the environmental consequences of NOT using the above outlined coolant. We all share this planet.
