C/E light and idle adaptation

The C/E light of my '94 2,3S has been burning since the beginning of this year. I've reset it a couple of times but it has come back on after a couple of days. It does not seem to affect the performance or mileage any way. I've read the trouble codes and the codes were P1124 (mixture too lean) and 1582 (idle adaptation at limit). The thing about idle is that when the engine is still cold and I give it some gas and release the pedal, the engine almost stalls and the idle speed vawes a couple of seconds before settling. I'm not sure whether these two symptoms are connected or not (probably are). I've had the vawing idle long before the C/E light started burning. Here's what I've done so far to rectify the problem:
-new air filter
-checked the air mass meter, looked ok
-fuel pump was busted and changed
-checked and cleaned idle air valve, looked ok
-changed the o-rings from the resonator
-cleaned the throttle body
-checked the hose going from throttle body to idle air valve, the hose from idle air valve back to throttle body remains to be checked
-used injector cleaner
Before the light came on I changed my spark plugs from the standard NGKs to Bosch four lead types, hoping to resolve the vawing idle.
Anyone else had similar symptoms? Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Tero
