There might be several problems, but I suspect that there is one root cause. The ECU is having adaption faults. So the ECU cannot get the O2 sensor to provide a signal that is not seen as lean. An idle lean adaption failure can be created by an air leak and you seem to be hunting for that. You have to look any anything downstream of the air mass sensor.
The O2 sensor may be bad. What did your plugs look like? Were they white as a lean mixture would be expected to produce? Any hint of knocking? Any cylinder to cylinder variations in the plug appearance. If you eliminate all air leak possibilities, then you can focus on the O2 sensor. Sometimes the sensor's contact to ground via the down pipe and manifold is not good. The contact from the sensor base to the down pipes threaded flange can be the problem. Backing out the sensor and cleaning the contact faces and reseating sometimes will set things right. You might try some fine waterproof sandpaper to clean up the contact faces.
