I've had Castrol Syntec 75W-90 in my 5 speed for a for over a year now and it's been great. Shifting is easier than with the recommended 10W-30 dino oil.
I've heard a lot of people bad mouth Castrol Syntec because it's hydrocracked petroleum and not a true synthetic. It made my 5 speed much smoother and did the same for the Muncie M-20 in my cousin's 69 Corvette. With the results I've seen I really don't care if it's made from recycled bacon grease.
