The engine changed in 94 when they went from bolted oilpumphousing to an snapring ring secured oilpump, but the change was done on both T, N/A.
The next change happened somewhere in 97 at a certain VIN number when they came out with the new engine type that is also installed in 9-3 and 9-5. At that point and time the pump and balance chain drive received a make over, but it was made on both the T and N/A.
I haven't heard or seen anything about that 95 and up T would be different from N/A.
But I agree with that the B204L engines seems to have lesser problems with balance chainssprockets.
It is a couple of people here on the board though that have had connecting rods breaking without warning on the turbo engines, and it might be related to an oilpump that is worn out because of sprocket issues.
It would be very interesting to examine those engines to get the whole picture.
