I personnally desire keeping fabrication of parts to a minimum so there are not many options. Of course is a stock T25 upgraded to T28 compressor and perhaps turbine as well. I almost purchased one of these from SLTurbo in Sweden. The problem is that, even with mail order, they charge VAT tax. Sweden's VAT is 25%, so a $600 turbo rapidly reached a bit over $900.

I then found a T28 for $650 that I considered trying to use. It was a unit designed for a Nissan. The cool part was that the intake could remain stock, as well as the hard lines for the oil and coolant. However, the exhaust was going to require quite a bit of work to make everything fit. The outlet of the turbo flange was going to force the downpipe into the transmission. Take a look at your turbine outlet flange and notice how it is centered forward on the turbo to allow the downpipe to clear the tranny. Now try finding a flange for a T28 to make this all work.

When I ordered my BSR 3" downpipe through Engstrom, he mentioned that he and SQR are testing a setup using the TD04HL from the 9000 Aero. This is the same turbo Abbott sells as an upgrade, if you haven't noticed already. The problem there is that they have not finished testing and do not know a price yet. And along price lines, Abbott's TD04 kit is quite expensive, but does appear to be high quality.

Anyway, money for me is now a bit tight so I am going to wait until later in the year or perhaps next spring to get the turbo. Perhaps, by then, I will be able to buy a turbo from SL without the tax. The US is still working on a way for us in the military to not have to pay the VAT by use of a form. We already get to do this in Germany but the Euro forms are not ready yet. If I go that route, I will probably get a T25/28 with a 28 compressor and stick with a 25 turbine. I like the early spooling (and better street ability) of a smaller turbo, but the larger compressor should give a decent boost to upper rpm power.

I'll keep you informed of what I find out.

Have fun!
