I bought a 96 900s in the UK for £3,600 (US$5,400)in September 2001. The car had a full service history from a SAAB dealer and a local independant specialist. I did 20,000 miles in it over six months, with zero problems, and only an oil change at it,s one scheduled service. I managed to roll it in April, and have just bought a 900 turbo to replace it.
These are well built, well engineered cars, and if looked after will give a long and trouble free life. Buying an old car carries a risk, and you can expect one large bill each year, but depreciation is minimal, insurance is cheaper, and as above, you can be lucky.
