I am NOT a tech wiz on this stuff like many others here but have been doing A LOT of research on the topic for my 96SET.
I have decided to do the MBC for several reasons...
1. Cost v. potential - the MBC is less than $50. If I don't like it or want to restore to stock, I am not out any time or $. But, there is fairly big benefits - increaed boost and quicker spool-up (what else is it you want???).
2. DIY - satisfaction of doing this minor installation myself
3. Exhaust - I just replaced exhaust with stock (@$500) and am not going to install a freer flowing one til this one goes. The MBC can be dialed in to give just a touch of extra boost (for 1st/2nd gear) and get fast spool up mitigating the need for an exhaust upgrade. If I upgrade exhaust or intake or inetercooler later, I can just dial in more boost myself in about 20 minutes.
4. More "stock" - with the MBC, I am confident that my mechanic or dealer can still diagnose "funny" things that occur.
5. I don't really drive the car that hard - just want a little more off the line response.
Just my $0.02...
