Actually, I think its IAC "Idle Air Control" on the V6, and AIC for "adaptive idle control" on other models, or something like that. But its the same thing.
twflys, do you have a v6? See V6verts posts from about a week or two ago for where it is and how to clean. It sounds easier to do on the 4 cylinder models.
Dean, I had the same situation, the idle from start now revs up to about 1800 and then lowers down into idle. It didn't do that before I cleaned the IAC, it would build up to idle and stay there. Also, in response to your question last week about gasket sealer on the vc, I guess the answer is apply a bead all around. I am tracing a leak that I think may be a small hole in the bead of sealant/gasket, but this weekend I couldn't budge the valve cover to re-do it, it was on rock solid. So I added some of that stuff to recondition and seal gaskets to the engine, we'll see in 500 miles if it worked.
