With the basic setup, there is a drop in boost at higher RPMs. This is caused by flow resistance of the intercooler, which develops larger pressure drops with higher air flows at high engine speeds. The MBC is controling the static pressure at the hose barb at the turbo compressor casing. So the boost at the throttle body is the MBC's boost set point minus the pressure drop of the IC and other things, like the discharge silencer, pipes, and the throttle body casting... which needs to be reworked. When you are in the lower gears you are working the high RPM's a lot and the pressure drop is very obvious.
So if you want to run with everything else as stock, you can be the poster child for MBC boost droop. :)
If you had a leak before or after the dawes, this would only make the boost setting higher. If the hose blows off, then you will get uncontrolled boost fuel cuts all of the time. Things are very hot in there. The nylon might get very soft.
