Some 'funny' things are happening with my Dawes MBC

I installed the MBC this weekend in the usual fashion (by-passing the BPC) and am experiencing some strange (maybe, maybe not ???) things...
1. Since I have a stock exhaust and no mods to air supply, I dialed in very marginal boost - about 1/16 inch into red on gauge. Adjustments were done in 2nd gear. I took the car onto the highway and in 5th gear, I was getting about 1/2 into red (with no fuel shut off). The higher gears on hghway develop more boost than in 1st or 2nd.
2. Boost in 2nd gear hits max then decreases back into yellow right up til shift point.
3. This AM, my boost is just at the red (lower than when I installed and adjusted) and the temp this AM was COOLER (about 10F) than when I installed.
4. Lastly, with the MBC, the turbo makes a different spool up noise. It's not the whirring sound but has a tone reminicent of an old VW Bug engine (you know the sound).
Could some of these be attributable to my use of a nylon hose sleeve between the Dawes barb and the stock hose. This seemed tight but the nylon is not flexible and the fit is not a stretch fit. Instead the barb kind of grooved the inside of the nylon. Maybe a small leak there???
Any insights?
BTW, even with stock air supply and exhaust, the MBC has done an EXCELLENT job at providing much better 1st and 2nd gear acceleration - which was my original goal.
Thanks, Rob
