Wow... I just GOTTA respond to some of these statements:

>Get a K&N 33-2663 and modify the air box,

I'm almost convinced that a K&N is a total WASTE of money... I think we've all been HAD and it's actually letting more dirt and crap through than we think. Modifying the airbox however is well worth it... Especially the $2 "funnel mod". Just do that and keep the paper filters.

>grind out the step ID reduction in the small end of the throttle body
>transition casting (TBTC). These will improve things a lot and the
>TBTC rework will make the engine run smoother and deliver more
>power at the same time.

Got any dyno data to prove that? I strongly doubt that this makes much of ANY difference... and yes, I've done it myself to two cars. No noticeable difference whatsoever. (The $2 funnel mod WAS noticeable and took a lot less time!)

>The turbo is perhaps the most durable component in the drive system.

Excuse me while I laugh uncontrollably!! We really need to stop thinking of the turbo as some "bulletproof" device because it's NOT. Why are there so many turbo rebuilders in business these days if that is true? And they'll be looking forward to plenty of Saab business if people are running high boost without regard to the consequences.

My friends and I have come to the conclusion that running more than 16 lbs of boost on a Saab 2.0 turbo is just asking for trouble. (Stock is 10 lbs, and you can hit over 20 lbs if you're not careful). The exhaust gas temperatures are getting too high and the turbo is just "cooking" the seals... plus it's way beyond the efficiency of the unit and you're not getting any more power out of it, just "hot air".

>Never replace the K&N swapped end for end after cleaning or inspection.

Chuckle... I do that all the time... No problemo whatsoever.
