I used oil in the damper tubes, engine oil is handy, use it.
search and read drs<underscore>list and read the strut and mount work
You don't need to remove the backing plate, but I did the first go around, I followed the haynes manual, not needed.
You will remove the caliper, so at that point getting the rotor off is simple and makes things ligher. Maybe a good time for new rotors and pads?
My mounts were shot. My rubber spring seat was fine, and so was the bump stop. But I shortened the bump stop. The buffer washers were fine.
My posts list the tools, as least for the earlier models. I was corrected on one nut size, see the rest of the treads. I find a metric/inch comb caliper great for sizing fasteners. Let me know when a 3/4" will do for 19mm etc.
Read my posts for things that are show stoppers. These are things that you will want to tackle as early on as possible, so you are less into the job if you have to backk out because you can't get one step.
Some rubber bits have a wax coating that can look flakey.
