I beleive that the engine maybe got an unfair reputation from the very beginning because ALL Saab mechanics and dealers have been used to 4 Cyl engines for soo long.
When this new strange thingy started to show for repairs, they where not really prepared for what it takes to fix a V6 engine.
This whole timing belt thing is still evolving and new things are discovered. If the right measures had been taken right away, it would have been a lot less negative postings.
But the engine does have some lesser good solutions, and many of them have been taken care of on the redesigned 9-5 V6.
If you check the 9-5 board, you have a lot LESS negative postings about the V6.
