We are in FL, but have the same dilema. We went to Sanibel last fall for a four day weekend and our top got stuck half-way down. We were finally able to manually put it back up for the trip back to Orlando. We took it to a local SAAB repair shop and they said it needed a new motor. Total cost $1600. $800 for the motor and $800 for labor. They also said it happens to SAAB convertibles all the time, common problem. There is a company that rebuilds the motors, but they hardly ever have them in stock. Even with the rebuilt motor it would be $1200. We got a second opinion from a local mechanic and he confirmed the motors sell for around $800 new. We have not had ours repaired yet, still looking for someone less expensive. Good Luck!
