Let me relate a story of my daughter's '95 NG900 that may be applicable. She bought thecar used with 88K miles and it ran fine for a year or so. All of a sudden, thecar would start to stall. The engine would dies as if either the fuel pump or the ignition died. She might be able to restart the car in a minute or so or perhaps she'd have to wait a few hours.
To make a long story short, it turned out to be a bad ingition switch. One of the "Run" contacts (of which there are two) was intermittent and this would kill the electric fed to the fuel pump/ignition system. Took a bit of troubleshooting - the local Saab dealer told her she needed a new CPU. I've read that thisproblem is more prevalent on the '96's and more so on the V6's than on the turbo 4's but can't explain nor confirm that.
Just a thought!
