You can get a top view of the pump by lifting the passenger seat cushion and removing the big round dust cover. You can check voltage here too. But you can't take it out - the tank has to come down for that.
The ng900 tank comes down pretty easy. Of course, jack up the rear of the car to give yourself some working room, and use tire chocks and jack stands! The protective cover for the fuel filter has to be removed and I think I also disconnected the fuel filter from the car (but not the fuel lines). Two wide bands hold the tank in, and are fastened at the rear of the tank with threaded rods & nuts. You kind of have to wrestle the tank down (parking brake cable in the way) but it's no big deal. When you hvae the tank laying flat on the ground, the pump comes out by removing the retaining ring and fuel line connections. I didn't know that a "special tool" was available...I just pulled up, twisted and tilted the pump so as not to damage the fuel level sender (works fine still). Good luck!
