Thank you for the response.That is certainly an elegant looking fix and that fine explaintion is very well illustrated. I am still stuck on step one, however. Does the fact that I can see a bit of gear when I look with my mirror mean I need to push the motor in further prior to locking things down or do I just clamp what is, as is? It would appear you removed the unit prior to applying your fix. Is that the case? I have not tired to pull things together with a c clamp for fear of damaging something. Is that what I should attemp to do? I have now owned the car for two sunny days and very responsibly have not put the top down waiting until I fix the problem but it is getting hard not to cheat.
