The V6's are NOT the plague. It gets very annoying to continue to have to dispel this misconception that the V6 in the NG900 is a P.O.S. It's just not true. Yes, it needs some attention with respect to the timing belt and the head gaskets are known to leak. However, if these are managed and maintained properly (as is the same case with the turbo 4, it must also be maintained properly, maybe a different set of things to watch for, but it is still a machine) the V6 is a very reliable and satisfying engine.
I'm not saying the turbo 4 is not a fine motor (in fact I'm probably going to be getting a 9-5 Aero in the next year), but in my opinion the V6 is no more a "problem child" than any other Saab engine.
My V6 has been the most reliable car I have EVER owned. It has not blown up, self destructed, or ever left me stranded. I have owned Mazda, Acura, Mercedes, and Saab.
