Indeed, the 9~5's six has always been a LPT. And no, the 9~3 was never offered with the V6. You may be the exception (along with a few other folks here on the NG BB)as far as satisfied V6 owners go. As far as why Saab has decided to drop the V6, I have it on good authority (from some of the Saab suits that were at SOC) that one of the primary considerations for only offering the T4 was indeed the reliability of (and overall warranty costs associated with) the V6. As you may know, the V6 is an Opel engine that was tweaked and upgraded by the Swedes. Unfortunately, they could never get the problems regarding the belt/tensioners solved. I had one Saab dealer tell me that the belt should be replaced every 20K--if that's true, then that's a pretty big whack in the wallet every year or so.
It's still a Saab--perhaps one that will never grace my driveway, but still a Saab to be appreciated.
