Said the t-stat housing and the water pump were leaking everywhere. 8oD
Cost for parts and labour to replace both - $326.50. For the 6 hours and parts it would have taken me, I told them to go ahead. Wish I had more time on my hands.
No leak so far. I was driving it for a couple of weeks prior until I was able to get it in. Perhaps they currently have the car apart and waiting for you to say yes, hence no 'test' drive?!
Make sure they are doing the pump as well as the t-stat, and depending on their labour cost per hour and other parts replacing, $450 may be slightly high. My price point was about $350, so I was pleased with the price. Most others from searching were under $400. Unless they are replacing lots of hoses as well, or something else. I do not have the receipt in front of me, but I can post when I get home if you would like.
Thanks.
Sean
