Dealer stuck between a rock and a hard place??? Posted by SWEDECAR [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() In Reply to: finally heard back from dealer about my car, gray man, Wed, 1 Oct 2003 10:47:53 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
The dealer might have gotten their hands tied from you not wanting to spend any more money than needed.
But my take is that when the timing belt tensioner is removed from car, I only charge 1/2 hour extra + parts to replace the coolant thermostat.
The thermostat is a bear to reach. It's either to remove intake manifold and injectors or do it when timing belt tensioner is removed.
They might have suggested that to you but you didn't ok it????
Water pump is about 1/2 hour when timing belt is removed, but you might not have ok that either????
OR, the dealer didn't push those repairs because they didn't know if the car was driveable, even after the timing belt had been replaced.
For seasoned V6 mechanic, this is standard repairs that should be suggested when timing belt is done because of the tremendous amounts of labor that can be saved.
OR, you can wait until everything is put together and make a killing taking it apart again. ;o)
