It may seem high only if you are not used to it. Most modern cars, even with pretty small engines, can be driven at similar speeds without any problem. In Europe you will see tiny hatchbacks with small 1.3-1.4l engines (non-turbo) doing 115-120 mph on regular basis. A 2.0l non-turbo engine is considered BIG and will usually enable comfortable 130 mph cruising. A 2.3l as in the 900S is HUGE and very powerful by world standards. The car is fairly light and has exceptionally good aerodynamics (for a hatchback!) -- so 135 mph makes perfect sense.
Years ago I had a Subaru Justy RS 4WD that would top out at 115 mph at redline in 5th gear. It had a 1.2l carbureted 3-cylinder engine.
It is only when you come to N.A. that you see ridiculously sized engines pulling heavy vehicles driven at decidedly pedestrian 80 mph.
