But I've changed many dozens of cars to AMSOIL synthetic with over 100K on them over the past 25 years. Can think of 2 or 3 that leaked, and at least 2 of them leaked before (owners didn't bother to tell me that).
Before changing, use a good flush, such as AMSOIL or BG. Have heard good things about AutoRx, but it takes a couple thousand miles to work properly.
If I couldn't, or wouldn't, use AMSOIL, Mobil 1 would be my choice. very good product, but not nearly as good. If you want to see some bench test comparisons of various 10W-30 oils, go the the AMSOIL web site and poke around.
No non-synthetic will give you the same protection as a good synthetic.
