Compounds for a Porter Cable and weathered black paint Posted by Ken [Email] ![]() ![]() |
I have a 94 CE and the metallic black paint is quite dull. I invested in a Porter-Cable last year and the Zaino chemicals, including the newer Zaino swirl remover. I was disappointed in the cleaning ability of the swirl remover so I never got a good clean polished finish for the Z-5 and Z-2 to do their best work. No matter now long, or how many times I'd work a panel, I never got the AHA! I was expecting.
I searched for advise on a more aggressive cleaner for use with the PC, and meguiars 83 seems to be mentioned a lot and the 3-M Finesse-it and Perfect-it as well (although the 3-M was described too aggressive for the PC by BB members.) I have some meguiars fine and medium cut cleaner, but have yet to try them on the car for fear of damaging the already bad paint...
Any suggestions? I'd like to use the PC to avoid a repaint in the near future, so I'm open to ideas. If not, what about color sanding?
